STEVE VAI



Seven-Hundred and Seventy Seven notes per Second. (well... it's close, anyway) This man is one of the all-time wizards of the guitar.
He was once utilized by Mr. Frank Zappa to tackle the "Stunt and Impossible Guitar Parts".
This should say quite a bit.
He has loaned his extraordinary talents to countless others as well, including Alcatrazz, Public Image Ltd., David Lee Roth,
(Roth - bleccch! What a waste; He needs to go back and listen to Fair Warning, as does the rest of VH)
...and many others. (including having recruited our fave vocalist Devin Townsend for one release)
One notable track with Alcatrazz was God Blessed Video, which is an amazing little number.
Vai's solo work is his finest of all, and equally the Zappa stuff.
He has recently put together a CD of the seventh songs from each of his solo efforts,
(he is very much pre-occupied with the numeric digit "7")
...plus 3 brand new tunes. (Release date was: November 2000)
Mr. Vai also possesses a unique philisophical outlook, and a very positive mental approach to things,
which is sorely lacking these days; especially in music, but true in all walks of life.
Most of the projects Vai associates himself with are worth a listen if you appreciate pure virtuoso instumental talent.
